Man I love to study on Grayscale so much. Nice job, I will use it as a reference for study
@ZapWo Thanks. It's very specific comicbook style, which is used and developed in different ways over time. But it's somethign that always lookded postive and charming to me, even when some specific story scene may not be as "positive". :)
This reminds me of characters from pizza tycoon. Great piece.
@DukeDarer I'm glad you like it. Sometimes it makes it easier when you don't need to worry about the colors and when palette is decided even if it's small, but it knows to get tricky to keep contrast and clarity in small areas.
@carrion Thank you for the compliment. I really gave myself few days to leave it and go back to it several times, and further polish some things, which is not always the case, and that allowed me to handle smallest details properly.
ooo that's really nice. so many details... I like especially the little hairs texture on the beard.
@Stickman Thanks, it was tricky as always. It does gets easier over time, but I doubt it will ever become "easy", at least for me.
@Eggy Alan Ford je odličan za lepo raspoloženje i opuštanje.
Thank you, I'm very glad you like it.
Kliknula sam čim sam vidjela thumbnail. Alan Ford je zakon.
Amazing piece and in my favorites it goes
@Cyangmou Thanks for the compliments. :) I've took the time to draw all the details I wanted, especially since it was a fun process overall. I even planned to create idle animations to make it even more "game like" but that would spread across most of the elements in the scene and it would require a lot more work so I've gave up.
Regarding gameplay, I was thinking about that as well. In my head it would be some mix between "Sam and Max" and 1992 gameboy "Looney Tunes" where you control different character in each level, to give attention to other members of the secret "TNT" group as well.
@ al19890604 Thank you, I'm glad it was helpful in some way. :) Alan Ford is great, especially because it's chill and easy to read. Very mind relaxing comic series.
@khoemy Thanks, it was a nice personal challenge, and somehow limited number of colors help in a way, since you don't need to worry about that part while drawing. It's already solved in advance. :)
This is really cool art. i love the way how the portraits contrasts with the rest of the scene despit eusing 4 colors and how a lot of detail was drawn, like the car, the clothes on the line, the grumpy policeman etc.
I am also wondering what the gameplay of this game would be. I always like to think about that when i see a mockup.
Reallllllly Great creation! Learn so much from it! And I just search Alan Ford after watched this. The comic looks great!
amazing work, from the cartoony style to the fact that you managed to do it with only 4 colors, its incredible!
Thanks for the compliments. :)
In short, in 70s New York there's a secret agency called "TNT", and their base is the fake "flowers" shop. It's a parody overall and authors critique of the society in almost each page. They are constantly broke and hungry while at the same time they solve "big cases" around the world.
Sir Oliver is one of the agents (alegedly nobleman) who is a master at tricking people and often saving the day, but more important is that he steals everything and anything he can ranging from cutlery to safes, which is why he's always on the run. It's of course complex character which can hardly be described in few sentences, but I enjoy his persona in comics so much, that I've had to make this imaginary game mockup. :)
I've no idea what this is but I can certainly appreciate the great cartoony aesthetic and the amount of depth + readability you've managed with only 4 colors. Both the portrait and the sidescroller mockup are fantastic.
Najlepše hvala. :) I'm very glad that you like it, and that there are still Alan Ford fans out there.
Drawing this was a great time for me, too bad most people won't get much from it due to lack of context and background story. Nevertheless, it's still one of the better things I've created.
Well, this was a surprise to me. Alan Ford, probably the best comic book of all time! And you made a wonderful tribute to this fantastic gang. Svaka čast!
@DelVechioCavalhieri Thanks. In the early days I've rarely played with small palettes and grayscale, but nowadays I really enjoy it. There's definitely something special there.
