If you use Aseprite you can load the ZX Spectrum palette from there. I also use a program called Multipaint to check the limitations are correct at the end.
In terms of advice, if you're just starting I'd recommend making something in black and white only then try to add colour gradually in each 8x8 pixel tile.
Once you get more used to the limitations you can design your art with colour in mind as you go.
Your ZX Spectrum work is inspiring! I know this may be a lot, but can you please list the exact limitations you use, alongside some advice for dealing with them?
Can't stop watching this masterpiece. ZX Spectrum images always give me some special vibes, you did a great job here.
