God, this is cool. Cool factor to the max, great job.
Usually, I'm impressed by how well you manages to hide the grid in your ZX Spectrum pieces. But in this one you really managed to make the grid work for you, very cool!
We pretty much only see colors like this, in pixel art. Pixel art is the best medium.
I love how you embraced the blockiness. Awesome!
