Very cool, although another restriction of the ZX Spectrum is that you can't use both light and dark colors in the same 8x8 tile (such as the white and grey on the face, the light blue and dark blue, etc.). Multipaint is pretty good for ZX Spectrum art, since it checks all this stuff automatically.
I tried, but every time it wouldn't update; turns out I had to alter the filename/s (added a 3 in place of a 2) for the change to take effect.
Even more impressive! As far as I know, you don't have to wait for your submissions to be accepted in order to replace their files in case of an error or something. I do that very often because I frequemtly notice errors after uploading
Have to admit this was so much fun to make! It was a lot of problem-solving on the fly, a sprinkling of luck, & trying to think several steps ahead of where I was + rework, rework, rework (especially at the sketch stage) Since I uploaded it, I've noticed one glaring mistake & a small edit I wanted to make - will have to wait for approval before I can reupload those.
I'm trying to follow this 8x8 2c all over the image and this is incredible. Appears so difficult yet you seem to be finding astonishingly creative solutions with ease. Even when I know that the narrower restrictions are the better environment for creativity they create, this doesn't explain this example.
@Space-AgeWrangler Good to know, thanks! I've revised the piece with this brightness value restriction in mind.
