Hi everyone, this is is my interpretation of Shurq Elalle. A character from the incredible ‘Malazan book of the Fallen’ by Steven Erikson.

Shurq is an undead thief who had been sentenced to death by drowning. Made to walk the full width the river ‘Quillas Canal’, circumstances conspired against her when a lupe-fish became entangled in the ropes of the weights tied to her and she drowned.

However, she had been cursed to never know death by one of victims, which meant she was able to emerge from the canal as an undead.
Her flesh did not decay and its pallor was noticeably unhealthy.

Her listless, murky eyes were dull and their whites browned by the blood of burst vessels. She later gets a rather, shall we say, unconventional make-over, which is where my portrait comes in.
Read the books everyone. They’re incredible.

Anyway, this is pixelled to the Amiga 500/OCS hardware specifications. (4 bits per channel/4096 palette, for a maximum of 32 colors on screen in Low res mode.)
171x256, 32 colors.

Happy Halloween folks. Hope you enjoy this one.

Zizka: yikes.

Hi Jok, I use Promotion NG and occasionally I use GrafX2. Predominantly for creating Extra Half Bright palettes, because PMNG has no functionality for that.

Tobikohiro: Oh dear. Well I'm glad you clicked on the queue to have a closer look. Thank you.

Protofor: This one took about a week, week and half's worth of pixelling during the evenings. So not too long. I use Promotion's Halftone feature to speed up the dithering process. It's a feature that enables you to control the dithering amount with Wacom Pen pressure. It saves a ton of time.

I also thought this was a filtered photo.

Welcome on PJ Danny :)

Nice work, - what software do you use?
Promotion? Grafx2?

When I saw it in the public queue I thought it was a troll post of just a low-res photograph so I am surprised to learn that you really placed those pixels! Incredible

Very high quality art. Looks almost a photo/reproduction of a painting. If  it's not a secret, how long did the work take?
