Portrait of Christiano Ronaldo.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a Portuguese professional soccer player who currently plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr and the Portugal national team. He is widely considered one of the greatest soccer players of all time and has won numerous awards and accolades throughout his career.

This creation is part of a purely NeoPop artistic approach. Greatly inspired by the 80s and 90s and popular culture, this graphic work uses its codes: pixel-art, design 8-bit, colors inspired by the video game world, dialogue portraits (avatar), characters from Pop culture, etc.

I finally have very few returns so thank you for this one! 


To tell the truth, I had tried something different on this character. Indeed, I haven't found my audience yet (if there is one) and so I'm testing a little blind.
I often question myself because reproducing a portrait by limiting its palette and its resolution (64x64 max) is not easy and it seems less impressive than original works. However, I find that technically it is a complete exercise that leaves no room for error.
 
Here, I had precisely wanted a more pronounced lighting and a more brutal graphic aspect close to the comics.
 
In the end, the feedback I got was not in favor of this method and preferred the (relative) realism of a Messi.

This is probably my favorite of the bunch - the strong backlight + the heavy black tones make this look kind of like classic Golden/Silver Age comics art. Pretty decent likeness too.
