Maybe it's just me but the inconsistencies makes this piece even more valuable.
Glad to see this getting the love it deserves, instant classic + hall of famer in my opinion.
That's really impressive for no 3D usage. I noted the flaws but only watching for a while. The first impression was "meh it's 3D overpaint" :) Amazing job.

The main inconsistency I can really notice is the spikes on Bowser's shell xP The other characters look quite stable. You did a good job with the "3D" look.
I think it might help sell the "lit by the flame" look if the spikes on Bowser weren't so brightly lit. I didn't even notice the otherwise fairly strong lighting because of those bright spikes D: Slightly darker shadow colours, especially on the penguins, could also help.
