Ahh yes. I've been watching this over at pixelation. Would join, but my skillz aren't up to par with the current talent at the moment. Any way, we all know that you, of all people, understand color choice, as her skin tones are beautifully selected. I just don't like the Purple being in place of the original piece's red. For some reason, the surrounding purple you chose to represent the negative space around the portrait seem to dull it down in my opinion, The piece's original red negative space just lit up her face, which is why I think the artist chose a warm monochromatic color to surround the piece; To give it vibrance. Where as the purple seems to dull her down. IHMO, I would have at least chosen yellow, or orange to help it out.
Also, I noticed her hat has more roundness to it and is slightly pointy at the top of her head in the original. But the main crit I just noticed, that seems to be relevant in all your pieces dealing with the human figure. I noticed that your pieces, whether they be full busts, or faces, tend to be rigid. One of the reasons pieces like this were so famous, was mainly due to the fact that the artist maintained the girls soft skin-like texture, and vulnerability, where as you gave her a rigid like look. But again, this may have been intended, since of course, you weren't trying to copy it pixel for pixel, or else it wouldn't be YOUR take on "an old master's" piece. That, and her eyes and eyebrows are on a different plane from the original.
But like I said before, Great color selection, and near-perfect representation of the piece. Great job overall though...
Sudenlly i would like to kill myself... amazing!
