Nice! It reads as what it's supposed to be even from the icon, and that's half the battle.
As to tips, though I'm only starting out myself, try doing the exact same piece in a CGA/EGA palette. 32 colors is a bit massive for something this small, and the end result is a bit noisy at 1X1 scale. Dropping down to a super low color count can be a good starting point, even if you end up needing a few more colors in the final piece.
Check out the PixelJoint Image Specs tool yanrishatum.ru/pj/. It's really nice for finding colors you don't really need.
The colors ramped up quickly as I began shading the medal. I'm still getting used to Pro Motion NG and have seen some shading tools but need to read up on it. Thanks for the tool! Will definitely try it out
