I love Pokemon, and blue roses are a motif I use in both IRL accessories and almost every social media avatar I use, so naturally Roselia is the Pokemon I use to represent myself in fandom settings. For reference, here's what a normal Roselia looks like in its debut games, Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire:

For years, I've had a Tumblr avatar that's just some card art I recolored to make both of Roselia's roses blue, but recently Pillowfort announced it's close to rolling out multiple avatars as a premium feature. Since I use my Pillowfort for my creative stuff, it felt wrong to make a themed set with recolored card art when it's in my ability to draw them for myself, so I decided to go all in and design a fully-customized Pokesona.
The most obvious design change here is that I've fully recolored Roselia's design in a way that doesn't at all conform to its canonical alternate palette, which uses yellower greens and purple and black roses. I'm a goth, so I wanted to go for those dark purple leaves some trees have. I also regularly wear full skirts for the aesthetic, so I added a couple extra leaves on the hips to add to that look. Lastly, I changed the shape of the "hairline" to look a bit more representative of wavy hair. |
