I think that having quite a few similar color tones hurts the clarity of the design in this case. I'm sure you can remove at least 2 or more colors in each area (skin, hair etc.) and still get a very nice result with sharper forms.
Also, the difference between lightest and darkest tones in hair is not very big, compared to the difference in tones in the face area, for example. Making dark hair tones darker could contribute to the overall look.
