I know I will seem very annoying now, but the only correct answer is no. :(
Yes, you are allowed to submit more entries to a challenge but each one have to be complete. You cannot divide one entry into parts. Otherwise canvas limitations would be pointless.
In case if you don't want to force both animals in one 100x100 canvas, I can suggest another solution which can make your entries fair and acceptable by the rules of this challenge.
Make two separate entries, one with a hippo and it's kid and one with a giraffe and it's kid. Or, if you don't have time to draw new kids for them, you can use butterflies which will make this an easy fix. I see no reason to not allow this since interspecies families were not directly forbidden, so this could be legally used as a loophole.
And if someone tells you that those butterflies are adults, becasue young butterflies are caterpillars, than say they are the the ones who are parents here, and that I allowed it ;)
oh thank you so much, i saw that there was an option to make them seperate sprites, and since each one is less than 100x100 i thought it would be fine if i just put them next to each other, so is it okay or should i just upload them seperately? (because putting them both in 100x100 feels a bit cramped)
This is so beautiful, and it is a fantastic addition to PJ gallery. However there is a problem with accepting it to the challenge. First thing is that you overlooked the canvas limitation of 100x100 pixels. And second is a slight missunderstanding. In the challenge description there is "besides humans" (meaning "excluding humans") not "beside humans" (meaning "next to humans").
I cannot edit the challenge rules now, becasue it would be unfair to other participants, so I woudl like to propose to you to add another artwork which will be an edit of this one.
Very cute! I'm not sure how the human fits into the equation? But nonetheless great rendering on everyone!
thank you! the human is there because i accidently thought when the challenge said "besides humans" that it meant next to a human....
