Nah man it's all good.
You just don't know, it's a common thing to throw around suggestions along with criticism on PJ, and people often illustrate their suggestions/ideas with change mockups like that. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
Oftentimes such suggestions lead to improvement.
It's just that I found zi's comments in this case more on the subjective/stylistic side, so I'm not changing my piece, but I ain't pissed at all :D.
Everybody loves the turd :D Hahah
Shadows are quite inconsistent here.. the light source is supposed to be on the top right (as evident by the house and the dog), but then the ship's shadow isn't quite right :D But oh well.. it happens :D
Okay, I wouldn't say anybody's at odds here, this is just an argument over subjective things :D Where of course both people are right and wrong at the same time.
Still, I'll clear up the thing with the letters, which might not be not very obvious at first, I realize. I know that if we zoom in we see 'jaggy pixels'. That's because I was forced to use non-perfect iso lines & corners. (the ones that go 2-1-2-1 pixels instead of 2-2-2 or 1-1-1)
That comes from: 1) the letter M having it's own diagonals that get effed up if I start making 'straight' iso lines 2) the letters being 3 pixels thick - resulting in 1 pixel corners as you can see on edge of letters.
I could change the corners, but that made the font all rounded up which wasn't the idea for the style.
First off, I drew the letters by hand, not by rotating in PS. They technically are 100% iso correct, both in their proportins and the lighting. That's objective. If you don't like their looks - that's subjective and frankly not my problem.
Also, with the shiny outlines you did - as the house is intended to resemble a basketball it must be matte not shiny.
That goes with everything else you wrote and fixed... Sorry but it's all subjective. I honestly can say I only like the dog in what you changed. And that doesn't make my dog wrong.
Sorry again, I like that you're trying to help and all, but seriously.. Your arguments are subjective and mostly out of context. Your 'fix' just shows what style you prefer. There is nothing 'poor' and 'incorrect' about the way I drew it.
As for objectively incorect things, they've already been pointed out and I admitted them, so...
Yes man, crit is great, but please criticize objective and technical things, not stuff that's subjective and different for different people's tastes. And especially don't tell about how something that's technically 100% correct is VERY POOR just cause you didn't like it.
I'm satisfied with the color count here, btw. I didn't have any goal for a small pallette, too, in this case.
Okay, look I always appreciate criticism zi, but really some of your points are either plain ridiculous or we don't understand each other.
1. The car animation is already changing one pixel up/down each frame. There's no way to stick another pixel in.
2. I didn't understand a thing about the letters. VERY Poor?? Incorrect volume?? WTF?
3. The wrapping lines are supposed to be 'painted' over the basketball, so absolutely no outlines for them.
4. Actually, if you look closer, you'd see that the dark stripe ends right before the right thingie's shadow. SO techniclly, the shadow is still over a light part of floor.
Yeah you're right Jalonso, I got lazy on the car shadow.. It should have been with the same light source, plus, it should animate with the car motion too, but oh well.. Too late to change anything :D
And yeah, this time I achieved total invisibleness of car wheels!! :D
:D To tell the truth, the pattern and colors on the house are inspired by basketballs ;) If you look further the ground is laid out with hardwood like a bball court :D
The cars bobs up and down cuz it's a hovering lowrider LOL :D
