These are very nice sprites. You used the palettes very skilfully and followed the merfolk topic of the challenge correctly. Unfortunately I couldn't accept it to the challenge because it was about portraits not sprites, which was heartbreaking to me, but I have to be fair to all participants who follow the current weeks rules.
But please don't be discouraged. Judging from this work you will do just fine in many upcoming challenges. Please always read carefully, and ask about any controversies. Also peek at entries by others, becasue you might get an indication that you could misunderstood something, when all other entries look significantly different than yours. Not everyone reads questions in your artwork description, but writing directly to one of the mods or on discord will give you quicker response. When I noticed your entries and questions it was already too late :(
Ah no problem! I didn't know the difference between portraits and sprites now that I think about it. I'll look up what a "sprite" entails. Portraits are like the photos in a passport I guess. In The Netherlands we use "portraits" also for entire bodies.
Thanks again for your explanation. The website and discord is pretty new for me, and pixel art too. But I really love it. I did have fun making the mirrepeople.
I'll try again next time!
Thanks!
Update: I looked it up and I now know the difference between a sprite and a portrait 😁 Learning more ever day! ✅
