This year I did Smaugust (sort of). It's a month long drawing challenge to draw a dragon a day over the month of August. My own aim was to produce between 1 and 31 pixel art pieces of dragons. I decided to bypass the regular topic lists and make up my own. I started brainstorming the weekend before, making 31 simple composition colour sketches with a minute or two for each. That's probably cheating but I was doing it for my own satisfaction and personal growth, so who cares. Despite this, I only completed 26 dragons. Maybe I'll have better luck next year.
The dragons were of various sizes but as I went I made 64x64px versions of each of them using the same palettes as the larger ones. This is a compilation of all of these smaller pieces. |
@Trignomicon thanks. I found that the ones that work best at a large size are too fussy when you try to reduce them down to a 64x64. And the better ones are (unsurprisingly) the ones with a nice readable silhouette (and the swirly knotted serpent guy also, I don't know why).
