A while ago, iSTVAN mentioned an old cartoon/comic that air on Mtv's the oddities. It was called The Maxx(a cartoon, that was based on the comic book by Sam Kieth). I remembered watching the cartoon when I was younger, but I never understood the plot. I finally did some research on it, and now I understand the plot completely. Due to that recent interest, and iSTVAN, for opening up the child in me, I decided to pixel The Maxx. If you notice, the shadow that is bieng casted by the Maxx is taking the form of Mr. Gone's head, his enemy, and the gooey thing on the floor with teeth, is a dead Isz, the minions that follow Mr. Gone. So, tell me whatchya' think: Good, bad, or just plain weird? Whatever the choice, I will always have an open ear for advice...Hope to hear from you guys! *Edit* with the recent comments concerning the feet, I decided to fix it as best as I could...if there's still any problems with it, please tell me, and I'll try and fix it...thanks again!

Wow, okay so I'm going through your stuff and see this, a MAXX reference! One of my favorite superbums of all time! I have some of these comics and I have the DVD of all the episodes (and The Head) and it was really refreshing to see a different style of it other than Sam Kieths.

The splattered Iz is a nice touch, and I didn't notice Mr. Gone's shadow til I read the description.

@Plunk: The Maxx is generally always seen or depicted in a curled up ball in a dark alley. This piece is no different. He is sitting with his feet and legs curled up close to him. The Maxx has one large, sharp claw on each of his hands. They look like spikes that protrude from his middle fingers, and are yellow in color, due to them bieng dipped in lava( for whatever reason). He also has unusually large feet, that are bandaged in a mummified type style, with a round gem in the "anchor" location of his feet.

I still don't understand what specific region you are speaking of? Maybe its the purple region behind his left shoe? If so, thats his bum, the left cheek to be exact. Other than that, I have no other clue on how to explain this further to you...

Pixelfish thanks for the suggestion. but my doubt was turned to the design not to the origins of it. what is the part under of the design? that one under the arm on the shoulder.

@Pixelfish: Although I wanted to keep a scratchier/comic style, I can totally see your point. I also believe I have been taking on tasks and pieces far bigger than my meeker talent/technical ability will allow me. So I guess it's a crit worth saving in the back of my mind.

From now on I'm going to try and define my dull edge with smaller works to see where I'm going wrong. Maybe then, I will be able to see why my bigger works come out so sloppy, as it is the echo that I have become so used to hearing...Thanks again everybody for the valuable crits...

The Maxx is cool, but I still feel like this is sloppy, and the gradation between tones/hard outlining is unsubtle. You should work on smaller pieces and refine every single bit.

well the shadow definetly needs to be adjusted.. only by looking closely i can tell its being casted from the body.. and i could still only do it by looking at the shapes.. but everthing else (including the shadow basic look and feel) is amazing 5 stars dude amazing style. and the pallette is extrodinary.

It might be just me but his shadow isn't exactly cast from his body? at least tht what it looks like with the angle and where it starts

Wow, I thought I'd never remember Maxx. I remember trading a comic of it with my cousin for something called "Nightmares." Great either way. The dithering on his shoulder and hand are so eye catching. Very well done, man!

it looks like you got a bit bored on the bottom left. There's alot of dark contrasting blackness that could be smoothed out a bit more along with some better shading and highlights. The best detailed part is his face in my opinion. I'm loving it, but there's something missing. It seems unbalanced like my eye keeps moving to the upper left instead of enjoying the whole scene. Perhaps a poster on the brick wall would help fill some empty space and help balance it out.

Awsome! The Maxx was the only comic book I ever really read. The spike on the hand looks a little off though. If I remeber correctly it should be where the middle finger is. I always remeber it lookin like he was flipping you off. The face looks a little crinkled. Other than that it looks great. Sam Keith would be proud.
