I tend to choose my own colors specifically for each drawing. I usually pick them all before I start blocking everything out, though in this case I adjusted some a little while after starting so that their values would be a bit more useful to me (basically I spread them out more evenly).
For this one I was following a photo reference, so I had to do a sketch first, then block in colors and then detail. Usually though I just start my images by blocking in the colors directly, it's a lot more fun.
Great job. What palette did you use? Its crazy to think that this was made in pixel art. It looks like an actual photo. What was your work process? And as for the colours, did you get a pallette from the internet, make one of your own before you did the colouring, or just add colour as you went along? I would just like to know more information on how this piece was made if you do not mind.
Thanks! @MrQuetch @6amwise
The colors were partly chosen because this had to be printed out, and I wanted to avoid having a big difference between how they look on the screen and on the paper.
I'm not really a fan of yellows and oranges in general, but the way you used said colors really sells the composition very nicely. I love the dithered background, the faces, and the folds of the clothes. Really very stunning work!
the little faces on the cat are manifique, love this!!
Thank you, cure! It really enjoyed making the faces at this scale, there's just enough room for detail and you still get that satisfaction of gradually making little tweaks to get them to look right.
Thank you! I hear they were, though I didn't actually get to see it printed out.
Fantastic stuff, bet they were really happy with the result! :)
Thanks for the response!!!
