I like your concept of moving from warm colors on the right to cool ones on the left, but your highlights keep contradicting each other. Since the light doesn't seem like it's coming from a particular location, and many of your colors are close together in brightness, the whole piece looks flat. This design and your hues have a lot of potential, so I hope you revisit it in the future. Studying photographs of real birds as well as examples from cartoons may help you become more confident in where you place your shadows and highlights.

It was a little messy, in the begging I aimed just for colour not lighting then the colours became a little out of place lol.
I gave it a little rework, not perfect but somewhat better I think.
