[Description copied from the previous one.]
The style of The Last Door is amazing. So beautiful and so technically intriguing. It is completely different approach from what I usually do as pixel artist.
It uses 1000% scaled pixels, on the canvas of 103x60. As I've read, it was not only an aesthetic choice but also artistic and conceptual one. It applies to all media that horror is more scary when you are not presented with everything clearly right away, but your imagination have to do all the work. In this pixel art resolution you have to imagine more than you see, and playing this game is more similar to reading a horror novel, than to playing a "realistic" horror game
When trying to imitate this style, you care less about color limit, because colour of pixels here is the equivalent of pixel cluster shapes in bigger resolution pixel art. If you want to change shape of something, you change the colour of the pixel. Working in this style is more similar to stuff like this: https://www.huffpost.com/entry/marco-sodano_n_4388199 |
I'm very glad to read that ^^
