Nothing too special, an old version of Paint Shop Pro + MS Paint lol. And also ZX-Paintbrush just for bmp to scr conversion. As for tips - there aren't any really, everyone's doing it their own way. Altho i would say that 8x8 grid overlay really helps with overcoming infamous speccy's attribute limitations and overall composition. Paint Shop Pro supports it, i'm using an orange-colored grid so that it wouldn't blend with any speccy colors.
