@specialmin64 Thank you! Glad you liked it!
I didn't go into the specifics in the description about what I learned, but I'd like to expound on it a little bit more: I was surprised by the range of values in your art, going from pitch black to full brightness; also sharp contrast between clusters of very distinct colours. Normally I wouldn't have the courage to do things this way, and rather leave things ambiguous.
And yeah this was way more work than it looked! The large size and sharpness meant I really couldn't leave things to the imagination the way I like to!
this rules hby, I'm honored! I think you matched me well, especially the poses and sharp drop shadows! (Like on corrupted monk's fingers, for example). I find your stuff often has a slight painterly touch to it, though I've never figured out why. The shape/curve of the clusters, maybe? Anyway that and the fall colors you used work great with sekiro's vibe! There needs to be a fromsoft-themed mugen collab one day.
Also, much respect getting this done in a week. I know this style takes longer than it looks...
@hby I have the exact opposite admiraton for artists who can transition between colors more gradually! I'm often missing a dark, in-between value in the shadows because I'm too lazy, or feel like I'd need to squint to add it. As a consequence, my art often looks noisy on monitors that automatically increase contrast. It seems like you've experimented with this lately too, though. The color changes on your recent Ian Mckellan and Meryl Streep(?) portraits for example are wild
