In this novel-length update of Tennyson's 'Lady of Shalott' Scott explores the uneasy mind of Elaine, a princess of Astalot trapped in a tower under a supposed curse. What are the strange unmanned skiffs that drift down to Camelot each day? And who is the dark knight that paces uneasily by the river, that she can see in her mirror each morning?
