I feel like use of AI in the process robs the art of it's value, it doesn't really fit as a gallery piece. It could go in a game I guess, but it kind of degrades its surroundings by existing in a gallery setting
I hope you understand that you invited the type of criticism you are receiving by posting it here
It's cool and I like the progress gif, but.. this isn't pixel art anymore. I can't believe im saying this lol
Appreciate it,but why pixel art?
Omegan's Domain - Reference photo: yes. Pixel art: No.
onilink_ - I've used both methods: Tracing/drawing everything "on top" of a photo, and drawing from scratch, but now I use a mix of both methods just because it's faster.
A rough outline (Head shape, general shading, and placement of facial features) are directly copied from a photo. The finer details, which get lost when the canvas size is so small (like eyes, line work, hair strands, and smooth shading) are all redrawn.
No AI pixelart or photo-2-pixels AI were used.
Stooj - Thanks for following my game, and thanks for your comment.
digitalCoffin - Thankyou!
Mathias - Thankyou for your feedback. Always appreciated.
Irenaart - I've added a progress gif. I could not comment until today due to low score.
This doesn't feel right.
I guess you traced over some image, and it's ok if you show your references.
But you really have to reduce the color count if you want this to look like pixel art, or at least has any artistic interest. It just feels weird, like some retraced midjourney images whose number of colors has been automatically reduced.
Oh hey it's RujiK! I follow your updates on Critter Crosser with great interest :)
Breathtaking portraits; I recall seeing you post a version of the first lady some time ago. The lace choker looks amazing.
These portraits look great. But can you please upload links to your ref images (I guess it wasn't done from the head), and if you have a working progress of these images to show (link on it), that would be great?
These are amazing portraits!
At first, I thought the fourth portrait had a different palette. I like how you kept a lighter part of pallete for skin on all faces and only changed a darker part to purple at the forth face.
