Fixed up . . . somewhat. Crits!

I'm trying to wiggle my way into the world of antialiasing and wonderful shading. Right now, I'm fairly satisfied with it. I'd just like comments as to why I can't seem to get the lighting on the back right . . . something about it still bugs, me. Is that little hook, highlighting the hump, done correctly?

I still didn't add a tail, it didn't look right, his butt is too big for the tail to be visible if you ask me.

I think it looks much better now. There is still need for some improvement though

You still have the problem with the head and the neck, this is because the body is larger compared to the head.

also you should only darken the back legs

I have updated it, taking a lot of your suggestions into account. From now on, I'll make sure to pass everything through the WIP section of the forum before bringing it here. Anyhow, I fattened +shortened the legs, AAed to the limit of my ability, and gave it more reasonable shading. I hope this meets up to your expectations a little more, dragonrc.

Is it in that much need of improvement? If you think so, I could have it closed until I've tried making the adjustments suggested.

I find it kind of strange that this work has been approved, this work needs some changes. I think those should be done first. But thats my oppinion

Aaah, I see now with the legs. The "hinged" popped my eyes right open =P but as far as editing it to improve in such a manner, I'm lost. So . . . I should rip out some of the random stripes on the legs to keep it simple all over, and I'll ditch those skewering black lines. Let me poke at it with a few things and see what i can do . . . but before that -- History homework. Blegh.

Interesting shading, but ultimately I think you would have gone better with more balanced change and some AAing so it isn't just a lighter line between the two. Also about the legs they look pretty hinged. I would maybe add a little bend so it doesn't look so statue-ish.

Also I would agree the legs dont look very attached mainly becaue theres so much definite shading there and detail which conflicts with the simplicity of the body. The black outlines are kinda shooting me in the foot as well as they go into the body, so i would make it transition to the darkest brown shade as it delves inward.

I love the face though, subtle and full of emotion. :3

Realleh? Hmm . . . now if I were a bear, I wouldn't appreciate that at all. I think I see what you mean about the head, dragonrc; the eyes are placed funny, but the ears are also slicked back a bit, which is much less bear-like than the picture you showed me there.

I thought the legs were a bit off, other people pointed that out to me as well. The odd thing is that they are to scale from the reference picture I used. I'll shorten them, move the far eye out of sight . . . I figured the tail was too small to be sticking out, but I may have been wrong; I'll try throwing one in and seeing how it looks, and making that back look a little less jagged with my minimal AA skills. Thanks guys! Heck, if I don't throw up from doing too much mid-term studying, I may even try to chuck together an animation.

... Yep, those legs definitely need fattened.

I agree with what andare said, the legs are a bit long and thin.

You should add a tail, make the legs shorter and fatter(especially the back ones). There is a thing that bothers me about the head too, the link below may show you what i mean

Hi. I think the shape still ain't right, maybe the paws look a bit too long and thin, but then again they have tiger stripes so...Also I think the head is a bit small and we probably shouldn't be able to see both eyes . You could add the tail. And of course AA will get rid of sharp edges but that will be HARD to animate!
