White Background because Pokemon Gold Silver Crystal sprites are designed to be put in front of white backgrounds only since they use ouside AA. Usually they are also 56x56 but I'm starting at a smaller scale to practice
My third piece of pixelart as of recent. I'm getting better at the technique but I still struggle with quite a few things here and there. For this piece I probably designed the pose wrong from the getgo, The head should be a lot lower with the back being almost paralel to the viwer. The and the rocks on the neck are also pretty hard to see if you don't know the design of the pokemon to begin with and the snout also looks really weird and is probably too big. The pose I was trying to achieve didn't really come across the way I intended at all and it more or less looks like a cat cleaning itself. What I wanted to go for was the Rockruff standing on 3 legs, holding it's front leg up as if it was taking a step and looking back at the viewer, tilting it's head a bit.
This was the first time I used a guide under the pixel art for shapes, like spheres for head and tail or a rectangle in perspective for the body. Before, I only used pencil sketches I made on paper beforehand as reference
Either way, I'm going to keep making more and will try to improve

I think it looks pretty alright ^^/ For your color palette to really drive home that "GSC" style, tho, you'd probably want something with more contrast. The colors are fairly washed out, looking more like RGBY. That's not a bad thing exactly but misses the mark if you were going for the GBC games.
