It was Polt's birthday on Saturday!! (Sorry for taking forever to post this  i'm a disaster). Although we haven't known each other for too long, during this whole year we've spent a lot of time together, whether it be playing video games, arting or just chatting, and I've come to appreciate how funny and silly she is! Her personality somehow manages to brighten up my mood, and i feel very happy to have her as a friend now. <3

Her main OC, also named Polt, is suuuper malleable. She's been drawn in as a many shapes and forms as you could imagine. So I thought it'd be fun to draw her in a cake shape! Her hat always reminded me of an ice cream cone, so half the idea was already figured out. Of course, her clown nose would be a red rounded fruit on the tip. The green clothing is depicted by the green dough, and her blue skin takes the form of a glazing on top of the dough, that drips onto the base, representing the legs as well. The filling is red, mainly because it was a good way to balance the colors, and because she does wear a read bow tie sometimes. Finally, her shoes are usually the same color as the hat, so I just added this little rolled wafer.

In hindsight, even though the rolled wafer is readable enough, it does look a bit, idk, out of place? And since Polt doesn't always wear shoes anyways, maybe I should have given it a second thought, buut it's too late now.

Other than that, I must say I really enjoyed making this drawing, and I'm also really, really happy with the end result! I can't take full credit for it tbh, I feel like my favourite part about this piece is the color palette, which is quite strongly inspired by the palette Polt usually uses. These such saturated colors are just soooo pleasant to look at, and super comfortable to paint with as well! My palettes are usually a bit more bland I'd say, which I guess is fine if that were the effect I was looking for, but that's often not the case. Even on this drawing for example, I used some more bland colors on the ice cream cone until I decided to go for this much more vibrant version. Heck, now I'm even starting to think the nose could've been a more vibrant red. I'm always sooo scared of excessive saturation and it's definitely not on purpose, so i feel like i have a lot to learn from this one piece.

As for the shape, i think it's a massive improvement from the cake i did for my birthday last year. More dynamic, a much more natural drip. I also decided not to include a plate this time, which kinda caused some issues in the past, and i think it was a really good decision. I also considered adding a white outline, but I found it more distracting than helpful, so it was left out. The contrast with the background is already good enough I'd say, though i feel like the ice cream ball blends a bit too much with it.

Anyways, I'm just super happy with this drawing, and Polt said she loved it too!!

The only one more thing I could ask for right now is for y'all to follow her! She makes super cool and uniiiiiiique art, I am sure you'll fall in love with it! <3
