This is my submission to the Pixel Joint Challenge "Toxic Masculinity" where you have to design a perfume, slogan, and name to advertise towards medieval men. It had to be 300 x 150px (or the reverse), using the landsknecht palette by percy.
This one is for the pious, impotent, or married man and the symbolism of fertility is doing a lot of heavy lifting. I wanted it to be suggestive rather than explicit, even if that makes it slightly less toxic, and less obvious. It would also give the user an excuse if they didn't want to reveal it was a perfume (it's a tonic for the plants!)
"Bless the Good Harvest" text is in illuminated manuscript type lettering with a decorative dropcap on the B and G. Beneath is a sword with 4 apple seeds. On the right is a yellow ribbon wrapping behind a long perfume bottle with the label 'Sow thy Seed'. It has pink liquid inside. Leaves poke out behind the bottle. The bottom half of the ad is a stork standing on a tree stump beside a wicker basket overflowing with red apples, there are some long grasses by the stump.
The fonts in use are from Google Fonts - Nova Cut for "Bless the Good Harvest" and Pirata One for "Sow thy Seed". |
we will have a bountiful harvest this year! the crane and the basket is a nice touch and really make the Pun on the bottle funny! Really love your Ideas!!
