It might look more "christmasy" if it was more candycane like and less dead looking. It'd be cool to have some kind of candy on it as leaves... Gumdrops? But, what do I know, I'm a noob so..

Cool looking. The BG on your piece is really not needed. Get that 'giffy' from the FAQ page to make your pixels transparent. Also why so many colors.
