I would say these are lacking contrast. You have a lot of detail in there, but it's hard to see it because the colours are so close together. Your highlights in the white and the black need to be lightened a lot (or the other colours must be darkened a lot) and you could definitely afford to put some space between the other shades as well. They will read much easier that way.

You should animate these! Nice character, nice scale, would probably work well for animation.
