It was drawn as a concept of a boss for the game we're working on. For a few reasons gameplay concept took slightly different direction, so i'll keep it here.=)

Update: All right, i've fixed some spoted issues (not all of it =), The B.O.B., Doppleganger, [Maestro] - thanks guys for a help, i appreciate it.=)

Well, I like all your works, but this one is best imo. This 3d effect is just great.

user
Darien (Level 3 Enforcer) @ 3/25/2007 23:15
Wow, I can't believe I missed this. This is really awesome, design wise and of course the animation is just insane... man keep it up, you've got such a unique style in the pixelling community, it's really refreshing. As Larwick said, the shell seems a little thin, like it's not with the right perspective, but meh

user
drZool (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 3/16/2007 00:13
Marvelous! I like the detail reflection in the eye moving, nice touch!

user
MirandaRose (Level 1 Rookie) @ 3/10/2007 17:12
Absolutely amazing.

user
PlasticOrchard (Level 1 Rookie) @ 2/15/2007 22:01
reminds me of jabba the hut. I like it!

user
Larwick (Level 8 Tengu) @ 2/11/2007 17:23
I havent commented on this yet??!

Absolutely pro, of course. The shell seems a tad thin however, for some reason. Maybe you could look into that when you next animate something similar. But seriously, this is excellent.

user
Imp (Level 1 Rookie) @ 2/11/2007 08:43
I just can't believe this is done in pure pixel. You must be some sort of pixel genius!

user
seakingelebit (Level 1 Depressed) @ 2/2/2007 09:04
if he were walking backword he wqould be cleaning up his slime trail, that would be a really cool detail.

user

Milkyjon: I'm patient  and well tempered.=)

Color = 10/10, Design = 10/10, Texture = 10/10, Animation = 10/10, Flawless and Absolutely Beautiful!!!

milkyjon (Level 4 Murderer) @ 1/3/2007 20:23
Ohh what I wouldn't do to climb inside your head and suck out your brains. So much knowelage and imagination. Just...just...well ... AWE inspiring. I havent seen anything this good since the days of Metal slug. Where do you find the time to cope with such a task. I start off enthusiastic when I start a mammoth game, but by the end im nearly  always glad to see the back of it (this animation surely must have drove you crazy......no?). Well all I can say is that your work is an insperation to me, I truly love pixel animation and yours is some of the finest that ive ever seen. Keep up the good work fool.

user
Packrat (Level 7 General Manager) @ 1/2/2007 23:34
I love the fact that you didnt make any "shortcuts" with this animation, but bravely used all three dimensions even it must have added loads of work.  This is absolutely stunning piece.

user
Riva (Level 6 Commander) @ 1/2/2007 06:48
I never understoond where some people get time and energy to create something so professionaly done, detailed and animated.
Must be either black magic or some special techniques I want able to learn during my 15years of pixeling.
(Im deeply depressed now and will go find some dark room to think of suicide) ;)

user
ElectroNico (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 1/2/2007 03:56
We know now why your nickname is "Fool" ;) Seriously this is an AWESOME work !!!

Thanks you all for the comments.=)

FlyGuy: ... winnig, loosing  - couldn't care less, all that fun which is fiiling up the gap between these two illusions just makes my day.=))

user
mikeful (Level 2 Hired Gun) @ 12/30/2006 10:13
On scale 1 to 5 this would be about 100. Great job with colors and animation.

user
JerryPie (Level 11 Big Foot) @ 12/30/2006 09:58
wow fool..you're going to win top 10 with every piece this month...damn you

user
Josiah (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 12/30/2006 03:11
So amazing

user
Badassbill (Level 11 Big Foot) @ 12/29/2006 14:57
I just wish i could give it more than 8/8. Best large scale animation I have ever seen.

user
PedroAGontijo (Level 1 White Belt) @ 12/29/2006 14:44
This is perfect. It looks real, and it's pixelled. Only the right eyebrow animation is a bit funny. but still wow.
I guess this sucks for a boss. I would never want to kill it and lose sight of it! I suggest you make it invincible

user
Zetabot (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 12/29/2006 11:46

Nothing to say that hasn't been said. Fantastic, and favorite'd.

user
Fool (Level 6 SWAT) @ 12/29/2006 09:33
Thanks, guys.=)

Scotteh, yeah, it will be short and long distance attacks, loosing perhaps, optionally victory dance and some misc moves animations.

user
NMEwithin (Level 1 Depressed) @ 12/29/2006 09:29
Great concept for a Boss and the artwork is truly amazing....great work dude, I really like this.

user
Scotteh (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 12/29/2006 07:16
And also, if this is the idle stance and its a boss for a game..... Are you making an attack animation?

user
Huggkruka (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/29/2006 05:18
Oh my god, THREE DEE! That is amazing.
I do think Maestro is a bit nitpicky. I only spotted those things after you pointed it out, and this was supposed to be a game design, not something to scrutinize for several minutes!
Still, it's constructive so I won't complain. Awesome piece all in all.

user
Mrmo Tarius (Level 10 Master Sniper) @ 12/29/2006 05:17
O.
M.
G.
it looks... terrifying?! I would definitely want a boss such as this one to fight! :D

Well, on the other hand, if you look closely to the 234th pixel from the left, and the 132nd pixel from the top, you'll see that... uh...

just kidding. it's amazing :)

user
Scotteh (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 12/29/2006 04:34

stop making so much awsome stuff! 6/6 and fav'd also

user
tomic (Level 11 Admiral) @ 12/29/2006 03:31

damn kool, one of the best animation i've seen so far, there are even perspective-changes, wow

i must say that i havent been a fan after your controversial adam&eve piece, but your last works just changed my mind completely.. i'd give a 10 out of seven 7

user
Fool (Level 6 SWAT) @ 12/28/2006 18:02
Thank you all guys for the kind words.=)

Spiv, you might be right. At least my daughter tell me same thing every time she catches me talking to my car.=))

user
[Maestro] (Level 1 Thug) @ 12/28/2006 16:18
I know I'm being a little nit-picky here (as this piece is pretty snazzy in itself) but, if you look at the edges of the the shell, you can see a portion of ridge move inconsistently with the rest of the shell. (almost like a reversed rippled effect). Considering the shell itself is supposed to be rigid and hard, the entire bit should move in unison. However, that is probably due to the error of pushing and drawing it in animation.

Another visible error that I was surprised nobody caught (but of course, let's all drown this sprite with compliments rather than actually try to help with the errors), is towards the underside of the forward arm, you are able to see the flashing of light coloured texture pixels that shouldn't be there. The transition of colour from light to dark remains constant  as the body moves into the shell (btw, this error appears on the fourth frame, if you are interesting in fixing it). Good job otherwise.

user
Yoggii (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/28/2006 15:49

what the hell is everone talking about this piece of ............lol joking! ITS AMAZING MAN I SO WISH I COULD PIXEL LIKE THIS!!! KEEP UP GOOD WORK FAV'D!!

DUDE!!!! this is just soooo ultra cool.

user
Filax_666 (Level 6 Hitman) @ 12/28/2006 11:08
What are you, dude?!! It's too awsome!

user
Fool (Level 6 SWAT) @ 12/28/2006 10:47
Thanks, guys.=)

Doppleganger, yes, that's odd - mast be missed it , thanks.=)

Akzidenz, can't tell for sure - may be a few weeks or so - 4-5 hours a day...Since it's a composite animation most of the time takes parts making, after that assembling sequence not really timey.

 Mykola, i can't look at it anymore.=))

user
Doppleganger (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 12/28/2006 10:27
Oh, one small complaint. The top right antennae of the snail, it just slides left/right at the base. Which is all fine and dandy except everything else in the animation appears so dynamic and therefore puts the sliding way out of place.

user
Doppleganger (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 12/28/2006 10:11
You gotta be kidding me! Geez, you gotta stop making such sweet stuff. 5/5 and fav'd!

user
Akzidenz (Level 2 Peon) @ 12/28/2006 10:01
Crazy. How long did it take you to animate something this big?

user
Mykola (Level 3 Corporate Drone) @ 12/28/2006 09:01
Ahh man you know it delivers me pure pleasure just looking at your works!!

user
ZZZkodi (Level 7 Mass Murderer) @ 12/28/2006 08:56

good...    o.o

7/7 and "fav"

user
Fool (Level 6 SWAT) @ 12/28/2006 08:41
The B.O.B., i missed your question=) It took a while - maybe a few weeks, after work time.

user
Fool (Level 6 SWAT) @ 12/28/2006 08:35
d-p, ah, I've thought you talking about green texture.=)) May mistake. It'll be used,  just in different approach.

user
HMC (Level 7 General Manager) @ 12/28/2006 08:33
That is UNREAL.

user
d-p (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 12/28/2006 08:28
You said the concept took a different direction, so I thought you wouldnt use it in the game.

user
Fool (Level 6 SWAT) @ 12/28/2006 08:25
Darth Mandarb, thanks - i'll fix it when i get home=)

The B.O.B. -  yeah, i know that shell has some bugs, i don't know if i going to fix them. Luckily for me shell will go - it was a real pain in a butt on attack animation and all others, it would be a steampunk-style trank instead.=)

Raynoa, thanks=)

d-p, what isn't used?

user
Darth Mandarb (Level 10 Operative) @ 12/28/2006 08:11
This is FANtastic!

The ONLY (tiny little) thing that caught my attention was the shading below the lower lip.  It just seems "off".  Everything else seems so organic but that little bit feels solid.

But, as I said, a tiny thing.  This is brilliant!

user
The B.O.B. (Level 11 Master Assassin) @ 12/28/2006 08:08
Wow, Fool. Your texturing, pixeling, and animation skills are some of the best I've ever seen. This piece just exemplifies it.
The only problem that I can spot at the moment, deals with the animation. In the top part of the shell(first layer I guess), the texture/rough surface doesn't seem to change perspective as does the rest of the piece. Instead, it just seems to slide horizontally back and forth, as the slug idles. It's kinda as if you just selected certain parts of a still piece, and moved them to different areas to show movement. Also, the outline in the top layer of shell seems to wobble a bit, in and out of it's natural shell shape.
Other than that, though, this is Amazing. I love your animations, and I enjoy learning from your style. How long have you been pixeling, and animating?

user
raynoa (Level 5 Soldier) @ 12/28/2006 08:04
Already seen this masterpiece in lj, but I'll say again, this is a pixelbomb! =)

user
d-p (Level 11 Psychopath) @ 12/28/2006 03:55
Wow, thats simply amazing so much depths in it, a tricked-out 3d animation couldnt look better. I like the green skin texture, a shame that it is not used.
