I do agree with your comments, for some reason I was never asked to do a jump anim, the game was based on an older miniclip game called Pirahnas so the graphics needed to fit that format, thats the reason there was no background animation also.

Just played the game. Really nice gfx, very charming style. Just a few things:

jump "animation" (if not given a direction, i.e. simply jumping up) is a bit simple (no animation at all)
the acid and background stuff should be animated (static bubbles and cateracts (in front of drainpipe-ends) look a bit strange). Animation would add nice detail and make it look more vivid.
