This gives me a strange memory of amateur flash games, i think it's cus of the greys and blocky background. The sort of sense he's very alone in his world.
LOL, anyway. I feel he has rather large arms and tiny pecs.. maybe that's just me. This is uber cool anyhow. The pose of the guy, and the general concept is great. Dog seems like a bit of a last minute addition however, but i think it all still works. Amazing stuff! As usual. Nice to see it come together.
I really like this. The legs specifically are amazing, the dithering is nice, I'm a huge fan of this background. The dog looks a little out of perspective to me, but it might just be the way I'm looking at it.
I think you and Pep are the only Pixelation members I've seen use interlaced dithering and I really wish more people would try it because it really does look amazing if done well. Maybe I'll give it a try sometime.

The work you've done on the legs is phenomenal. The rest of the piece is excellent as well, but I'm just floored by the terrific sense of depth and dynamic position the legs provide.
If this looks generic then point me towards other pieces that are similar to this.
I'm sorry if you expected more from me and I didn't deliver. The point isn't to overcomplicate everything, the point is for it to read well, and get the mood across, be fun and interesting to look at. I didn't consider doing the background like I did the character, but perhaps 'lush rendering' (which the character has, at the best of my ability) created that sort of expectation that this would be baroque detail-everywhere.
I don't understand the point of sword-eye or whatever, I don't think it's important in any rate for this dude to behave like a proper samurai (if indeed samurais do anything with eyes-swords as you suggest). He's a demented fellow that butchers dogs in the name of a nonexistent Kitty Empire. For all we know that sword is a faux ornamental sword. Let's not get carried away. 'too normal' isn't something I know how to reply to if it's leveled as an accusation towards an art-piece I did. I don't even know what it means. I drew what I thought was interesting to the eye and so on. If it's too normal for you, I'm sorry.

I agree with Filax. I thought there was going to be more to it. I mean, you're pretty good with color selection, so I really don't understand why you left the background so bland. I actually thought it was going to detailed as much as the characters themselves. Also, the face just seems awkward, compared to his body. And to be honest, I've never seen a samurai, or any swordsman for that matter, look at his target with the opposite eye. Isn't the proper technique to use the eye that is on the same side of your sword-yielding arm? It makes more sense to me at least. I also don't get whats going on with the scratchy right side of the background, when the city scenery seems kind of perfectly geometrically shaped for the style. And now that this is done, I must say that the green just doesn't blend well in this pic. You've heard my other critiques back at pixelation, but I guess you are done. I guess to sum it up, it's looking kind of generic all together. Not trying to be rude, but I expected a little more from you. Oh well. I still like the way you tend to blend in different colors with dithering on the character. It's something that I still can't grasp to this day.
I love what you did with the jeans and skin (even though the latter could be even better) but everything else seems too normal. I had envisioned some neat highlights on the dog and I hate what you did with the face (and the hair is extremely blurry) which should have more RED. I also thought that when you mentioned "lush rendering" that would include the background. I really hope you update this...please?
I love it, his left (our) knee still bothers me a bit, but excluding that, fantastic. 7/7+fav
