i made the background simple because the point in this piece is the boar after allso it gets all the attention ;)

It's awesome! But isn't the color restriction 32 colors for the contest? Anyways! I can't believe it hasn't been fave'd yet! I'll fix that right up

elk is a well known AND respected pixel artist, and this is his skill level. if you look you can obviously tell that all aspects of it were done by hand.before you accuse someone of doing a color reduction, do yourself a favor and look in their gallery first, besides i don't really think your at the level to be judging more advanced techniques as not being pixel art.

it is done by hand wtf o-O have you ever seen a boar with horns like that and eyes? lolthere is a paper on its horn which is a magic seal :P
this boar is a cursed one ;)!

Well when I first saw this it looked to me like this was a color reduction. Maybe some WIPs would convince me. But if it was made from hand I thhink this is extremely well done. Much better than my entry.
PS what is the thing coming out of its right (our left) horn? It looks to me to be an axe head.
