I did this as a mural texture for an old 3D rendering system called VREK back in the early 90's. I had to limit it to 39 colours as it was an 8bit pallete system and you couldn't be greedy with your palette. I exclusively used DPaint and the image took a couple of days to complete.

Well I can't complain about being compared to Lazur, early or not: I've always been in awe of his work. I agree with you regarding the anatomy, it's not my strong suite and stupidly, I didn't use a reference. In fact, I can remember being chuffed that I got it looking that natural, even if it is a bit off.
hehe, when i saw the thumb in the newest pixel gallery, i thought: 2 comments - then 1 of them is bob complaining about anatomy =)
reminds me on some early lazur-pieces.. anatomy-wise

I think the anatomy in this one is really off. The pectorals, and abdominals on both figures seem to symmetric and evenly placed as opposed to realistic human muscles and curves. The arms and fingers seem kind of rubbery, too. Also, the nipples are too close together. I do enjoy the clouds though...
