So, this is my contribution to my first activity here on pixeljoint. Hope you like it. Spent way too much time on it as usual. Actually did three versions, more or less finished. First, no more than a sketch : http://www.emanu.se/lightningtower1copy.gif Second, almost finished: http://www.emanu.se/lightningtower2copy.gif When I had nearly finished the second one I saw ilkkes contribution and realized I had to up my efforts a bit and create a more dynamic image, so here we go with my final contribution. Thanks ilkke for pushing me that extra distance!

I friggin' love the lighting and explosion.
I would opt for more contrast and imperfections (I can't think of the word... like cracks, ya know) in the tower. But cracks aside,
SWWWEEEEEEEEET.

If i could add something to the ongoing discussion when it comes to depth of view and lighting and such: in this case it's really more about a choice of style. To me the picture is obviously somewhat cartoony/arcady and is not aimed towards realism. In a picture like this you don't have to follow the laws of physics if you don't feel it helps the overall expression. Also, keep in mind the restricted palette of 15 colors, which would lead to some simplification when it comes to atmospheric lightning and depth.

yeah, and you had some good points, they are considered, and I would atleast incorporate one of them if I were to work on it any further. Just consider my point about communicating on the internet (home of misunderstanding), thats all. I really like your contribution to the lightningtowerthing, by the way.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be harsh I only tried to help, present my view. It is up to you to accept it or not. I am not the best communicator, I know, but thats how I usually react on things... Right now the zeppelin and explosion seem to be on the same level, there is no depth, if you want to summarize it up. All the best!

I read your points, but they are really rather subjective and you come across as really patronizing. Do consider how you present yourself when commenting pieces please, the "im going to teach you about art" could be considered rather...von oben.

I like the zeppeline, but the tower could use some more touch ups, like the spreading light from the tesla ray. Light really spreads everywhere, so why are the tower walls so dull? The explosion could also use some more contrast as I understand it is meant to be the focal point. And the zeppelin should be darker from the top and back, as there is not much light coming... Also remember, art is not only the colours or lines, it is also about composition, it is even the most important thing! Great work though!

The best entry so far, great work! I only think that if you put just a black silhouette of the back zeppelin you emphasize the blasting action on the front, giving more drama to this piece.
