I like to keep a tidy gallery. I removed older work that didn't have a lot of time invested in it. I left the older works that I felt were more serious projects (Kraken Vs. Vikings and I Am Legend) or especially old (early isometric work),because I do want to show progression over time. The smaller works (and most icons) have been culled. They might make it back compiled in a single entry someday, but don't count on it.
I also cull artwork from my favorites to keep at around 10 pages. Trial by fire, only the strong survive!
i dunno. i am going through old challenges rating them to get the rating count up, but also to see where different artists have started, and how people's approach changed over time. and sometimes i stumble upon people removing challenge winners or even top pixels of the month. kinda disappointing, really. it is nice to be able to go back into an artist's gallery and see that that artist was not always the perfect pixeller they are now. this thought is reassuring, makes me personnaly keep going hoping to some day become like you or Snake or Fool or ptoing or Mrmo Tarius or any other of the great ones. i feel that keeping the old and perhaps not so great artwork in the galleries is a help to guys and gals who are just starting out and hope to get inspired. i hope when i am a great artist, i will keep the old work around for people to look at and get encouraged. after all, if you put work up back then, you felt it was worthy of others to see. the artwork did not change, but the artist did. but then again it is your work and you decide what to do with it at the end of the day. so excuse the super-long post and keep on keeping on!
on a unrelated topic, i would love to see gallery folders here, at least for favorites, kinda how they got on deviantart. maybe this would keep your fave count a bit higher?
