This is based on a little pewter toy I've had since I was ten or so.

That is .. .. Superb.
The shading is so nice, and the pallette is so limited but you use the colours really well.. Man, Wish I was that good..

Aweosme position.. i am loving it..

Just one this, the weapon's ANGLE is done wrong.

Anyway, MAGNIFICENT WORK!

Morgengrauen (Level 2 Quiet One) at 10/13/2007 2:42:55 AM
the pose is wonderfull, but since the colors are chosen so near by another, it looks very flat...

brod'tam (Level 2 Quiet One) at 12/4/2006 1:50:29 PM
Nice ! I like the iconic clean design !

Skull (Level 11 CEO) at 9/27/2006 6:27:02 AM
I love the striking pose. Fantastic work.

xcaretbaby (Level 1 White Belt) at 1/31/2006 9:26:28 AM
it is a very good piece of art

Faktablad (Level 6 SWAT) at 11/19/2005 5:34:37 AM
This is one of my favorite pieces of yours, Sedge.  You pulled it off with such artistic flair.  I'm loving that pose.

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 8/30/2005 8:13:39 AM
Well thx Sensei. Ninja turtle feet were not the intention, but I see what you mean.

Sensei (Level 1 Hired Gun) at 8/30/2005 2:37:40 AM
This is my favourite pixel art in the hole wide world
The feet are little like teenage ninja turtles's

Did some major updating to this piece.  Darkened everything and removed some of the dark lines.

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 7/5/2005 3:45:52 PM
The raised lines on the hat don't really make any sense I suppose.

Lawrence (Level 10 Operative) at 7/5/2005 1:31:30 PM
I like it, the straight-ish outlines on the trousers are stylish in my opinion. The sideways glow is really good. But I don't know about the shading along the lines on his hat. Perhaps that's just me, I don't know...

Gamma (Level 1 Rookie) at 4/14/2005 11:10:56 AM
The legs seem too short....

Feltpants (Level 1 White Belt) at 4/4/2005 2:06:21 AM
Nice one awsome pose, and nice axe as well big smile

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 1/29/2005 4:19:06 PM
Thx, there's definitely some room for revisions, but I'm not touching the colors. wink

Belle (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/29/2005 9:41:46 AM
I dunno, I quite like the colours on this one. It reminds me of that army of clay soldiers in an Emperor's tomb.

Spider*Monkey (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/28/2005 7:44:33 AM
Very cool samurai!

iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) at 1/10/2005 3:28:09 AM
Donomight: Dithering is a style of shading, you may know it as 'cross-hatching' or 'checkboarding' or something.

Donomight (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/7/2005 1:39:45 PM
This one is awesome! The colors seem good to me. What do you mean by ditehring?

Dejital (Level 5 Sniper) at 1/5/2005 7:39:39 PM
I agree with iSTVAN. The colors are very bland and boring. This shouldn't be too hard to fix, either. If you look closely, the left arm is actually longer than the right, and this fist is a lot larger. Dithering on the orange armor doesn't work at all, gives it a rough texture rather than a smooth and glossy look. The left leg looks like it's missing (the thigh). Great and absolutely beatiful lineart. smile

iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) at 1/4/2005 3:55:19 PM
I'm only responding in the same way I would at pixelation. I dont think its ok to just say something either 'sucks' or 'is the best thing in the world.'
Like sedge said, its quite a large work, and because of that and the time it takes to shade and colour I think this work suffers. In my opinion it would have been better at half the size.

the_keller (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/4/2005 8:08:42 AM
Yer nuts iSTVAN. This pic is one of the best pixels I've seen! And I'm not just kissing ass either. The ax does look kinda jacked but all the other stuff seems nitpicky. angry

sedgemonkey (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 1/2/2005 10:51:08 PM
It's been sitting on my computer forever and I just added the purple glow on the right side recently. I don't usually spend any time on anything larger than 100 pixels so I was just happy to get it to this stage by the time I was done. It definitely needs some polish, but I'm pleased with it so far.

Thanks for the comments/crits.

iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) at 1/2/2005 7:32:19 PM
Not my favourite of your works, sedge. Colours are a bit boring, the dithering doesnt really suit and the axe thing looks like it could use a bit of shinyness. The perspective on the axe doesnt really give the impression of distance.
The squareness of the pants and shadow also annoy me.
The subject matter reminds me of Kasuyu Mochu's (sp?) work. Which is a good thing!

Some good things about it are the hands and I like how youve used blue and light orange to highlight him, however youve shaded using these colours from opposing directions making the big plain spaces inbetween look rather dull.
I also see a few too many jaggies for my liking!

Sorry for being harsh, but Ive seen better from you!

Shivers (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/1/2005 10:43:07 PM
Great perspective on this one big smile

the_keller (Level 1 Rookie) at 1/1/2005 3:42:03 PM
Damn cool sedge. That's a funky looking axe.
