You should work on your own avi.  Something of this style in like a 65/65 avi would be sweet. 

You are totaly right, let me time to change that. Arf, I already decontrasted and lighten the ground one time, perhaps I must make it once.

I think it would look much better with other colors tho..
on the foot of the mushroom, it seems you have 2 greys, one of them is wasted, its value is really too close to the "pink" next to it..
Also, for this style, I think you could have decontrasted and lighten a lot the ground and the grass/leaves.. to bring the character and the mushroom at the foreground..
and last, the "Z" and the "bubble" (don't know how it's called in english; phylactère in french ^^) should have more emotion in their graphism... shouldn't be that straight imo..
but good to see you try something with a BG ! keep it up!!

edit: I just realised you have more than 60 colors for this piece.. I'm sure you can archieve a similar  result with just half of them..
