@jalonso: Thanks for the advice. I'm spriting for some years now, but I'm still a beginner refering to pixel art because I concentrated on creating sprites for 2D games.
@kakikukeko: No, I didn't use any reference. The waterfall was created while I helped out a friend to create a waterfall tutorial. I just tried to find out which technique works best.
Very pretty scene. I give you that color count is not crucial to it being pixelart. However, color control is an advanced skill and garners respect from others so in the future you may wish to keep that in mind. Only my opinion of course ;)
your darkest color is used on only 6 pixels, at least 4 colors ( I haven't checked all the 73 colors) are used on only 1 pixel.. an other one on around 8 pixels.. and most of them just on around 20 pixels... nobody can tell the difference, so you can really remove those colors and use the closest instead..
@lux: ja, theoretisch könnte man es im maker benutzen, hatte das auch zuerst geplant, aber damals war ich einfach noch nicht gut genug um die restliche umgebung zu pixeln^^
@philipp: it's definately pixel art. i use neither transparency nor brushes. in my opinion it does not depend on the color count if it is pixel art or not. i can guarantee you that i placed every pixel by myself (i used graphicsgale for this one)
I haven't checked the color count myself, but if it's 256 you can easily lower it to less than 32.. the piece is quite small and the palette pretty monochromatic.. otherwise, I think it looks good, I would add a little bit more contrast in the waves tho.. (add some dark values where the angle of the wave faces to you..)
