It's been a while since my last pixels were drawn, so something original here. Based on a sketch I did with a ball-point pen on a scrap of paper. I'd liked to have put something in the forground, but the subject is the fortress - not sure .

I drew the picture zoomed in about 8x so when zoomed out to full size it appears very cluttered. Best viewed 2x I think - would you agree?

Originally I was restricting myself to 12-bit pallette and 32 colours. It ended up being 32-colours (33 with gif transparency), but drifted away from the strict 12-bit pallette as I wanted a couple of more subtle colors.

Hope you like it!

Oh, nearly forgot, full work in progress can be found here...

Great cartoony style, I think the bushes in the front lack something though. Maybe some red berries.

HoofFoot (Level 7 Assassin) at 6/24/2007 10:18:25 AM
Aaww, that's a very cute style and a wonderful piece.

Necky (Level 1 Rookie) at 6/4/2007 7:51:51 AM
Wicked! I had no idea you were working on a new piece of work! :) One for the favourites me thinks :)

the composition seems a bit... chaotic. I dont like low detalization of the nearest bush

Wow that's an amazing step animation. Very impressive and a equally impressive result.

I'll think about the outline. I wanted to have a clean feel to the piece, which is something I've not been particularly bothered about in the past.

I'm not sure what you mean about the crooked mountain - there is no mountain- unless you mean the big blancmange in the background .

iLKke (Level 7 Mass Murderer) at 5/12/2007 3:36:02 AM
You could theoretically make the piece even better by dropping the outline, like you already did in places.
Plus, I never ever saw a mountain with a crooked peak. Before :D

Amazing.

I'd like to thank you all for the lovely comments you have left me. I'm now hoping for some gritty crit from Helm .

Stickman (Level 4 Deputy) at 5/10/2007 5:54:41 AM
Beautiful. I like how you dithered out the sun againt the sky. Those 2 colours work especially well for that

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) at 5/10/2007 4:45:05 AM
A most beautiful scene.

Adam - Interesting you liked the tree - I didn't seem to think it fitted too well. I also thought it wasn't drawn that well either. Thanks for your comment :P

AdamPlays (Level 6 SWAT) at 5/10/2007 1:25:44 AM

This is very pretty!  6/6

One thing I found interesting in the full WIP is the tree you had fully developed in center-left that you ended up cutting out!  It was a nice topiary if you ask me and I was surprised it got left out.

Ultra clean and a great pallet, everything jumps out.  I like it at 2x but I like everything at 2x size.  Great Job.

Fantastic! 6/6+FAV
Your best so far, you got really good.

Also one of the most interesting WIPs I've seen.

macula (Level 6 Hitman) at 5/9/2007 5:35:44 PM

Kaiseto (Level 5 Soldier) at 5/9/2007 5:12:57 PM
Definitely like this. Especially the soft colors on the mountains the the background. Expertly done.

FrankieSmileShow (Level 6 Manager) at 5/9/2007 4:11:24 PM
Holy carp! You should have tried out the weekly challenge with that! haha, it would have been a perfect RETORT to my evil castle. :D

Adarias (Level 7 Colonel) at 5/9/2007 2:35:53 PM

jamon (Level 8 Marshal) at 5/9/2007 2:24:24 PM
