It doesn't look like an FFT style portrait to me and the shading on the sprite doesn't match the game's.

I dislike the eyes in the mugshot, but, besides that and the non-awesomeness of his position, that is not diagonal, awesome job!

yeah, they likes them the big eyes with the wraparound lashes

looks good but it would be more interesting to see the 4 diagonals since those are what were mainly used in the game :P

nice! he could have larger eyes (just a pixel or two) if you wanna imitate the style o3o
the desaturated palette fits the style, maybe the hair could be worked a lil more
