using a common technique for taking advantage of the way pixels are arranged on an LCD.  each pixel is actually 3 sub pixel diodes (red, green, and blue).  when only one is being used, there is a slight gap.  when multiples are used, there is no gap.

each letter is at its max, 2px by 4px.  if you aren't using an lcd, they will just look like colorful blobs

=/ I wish I could see, but I specifically use a CRT for my art.  But really cool idea.

This is insane. I knew there were algorithms that used this phenomenon to anti-alias text and so forth, but I never heard of anyone doing it by hand before. I'm giving this a +5 and a fav for pushing the technical limits further than I had thought they were capable of going.

Inferno Fighter - Wikipedia has a good article on "Subpixel Rendering", which is where I read about this, but nothing on doing it by hand.

Yes, I can see almost all of them. Very neat, I didn't know you could make this kind of illusion.

Imma look at this one when I'm on a screen that will work.  Subpixelling is another thing on my to-do list, it's pretty neat when you've got the right monitor.

My CRT makes this out fine - It's probably my eyes that's the problem. Nifty idea :P

This is really nifty!  I can make out every symbol perfectly.

user
Ensellitis (Level 11 Sensei) @ 5/26/2007 19:06

user
eckered (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 5/26/2007 18:38

user
ZeroFive1 (Level 5 Rokkyu) @ 5/26/2007 18:35
Wow.  Cool.

Some letters are harder than others but overall it works!

user
BadMrBox (Level 2 Quiet One) @ 5/26/2007 18:02
I'm not too sure that this works really. Im reading the G as an S and the H as nothing. doesn't do it for me.

OMG dats freaky, but it actually works! I'm very impressed! But, is it really art? ;D
