Unfortunately I can't spend any more time on this one, wanted to and some more animation. So he does look a bit static... just imagine he is a boss character: not agile, just powerful. :)
Decided to focus on some animation techniques that I haven't really approached before. I used sub-pixel motion for the arms (they only move up/down by 1 pixel over 4 frames), and attempted a flame animation. Not super satisfied with either, but it's a start.
Nope... but I can see why you might think that. :) Originally I made the flame red-yellow-blue with a black center.. like a piece of coal burning super hot. I thought it was a bit too run-of-the-mill, so went for a blue/purple flame instead.
Actually, if you rotate the hue by 180 degrees instead of inverting, the flame does look more 'normal'. But that's not how I got those colours. :)
