I usually don't do any sort of remixes of my own work, so that people don't think I'm too lazy to make new stuff.

But this is a different case. At the time I created the original I made it in a minimal, 3 color palette, plus I wanted to try softer colors by then. The result was quite good, but as time passed I just kept wondering what if I added a splash of vivid color to it.

Well, now I know :).

Note: looks better at high zoom levels.

thank you for the kind words :) I've really been trying to work out this little style for some time, both in my pixelart and vectors, so whenever people tell me I did it, it feels really good :)

Just one word : Impressive... I really appreciated you bring such composition taste always used in 'minimal-color' vecto, to brilliantly bring it to Pixel Art, thanks for this, FAVED !!
(And one more point for the PowerGlove in your last mashup ^^)

Looks realy cool man! Would look realy good as a poster.

ScarredShadow (Level 4 Deputy) at 6/24/2007 10:27:24 PM
awesome. It would make a cool graffiti poster. Stick it on random buses and cars and walls wherever you go.

lol positive pixel terrorism I gotta remember that hahah

I think that term goes well with many of your works too (a la the split pig stamp or the avvy :D)

iLKke (Level 7 Mass Murderer) at 6/7/2007 9:27:41 AM
This is like some sort of positive pixel terrorism.
Don't ask me to explain that. It's supposed to be a compliment of sorts.

ZeroFive1 (Level 5 Rokkyu) at 6/2/2007 8:28:23 AM
I like it.

Good cartoony style.

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 5/30/2007 2:47:09 PM

ah that one. well it was a one time project :) but hey I'd like to print this one for some show or a book.

It just has these colors like neon green which don't work well with CMYK printing so I'll have to figure it out if I'm really gonna print it :D.

Skull (Level 11 CEO) at 5/30/2007 2:41:41 PM
Er.. the one you you the green/white one published in.. :o ?

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 5/30/2007 12:59:42 PM

Quar (Level 3 Stalker) at 5/30/2007 12:46:47 PM
This is why there is pixel art. Great job.

Skull (Level 11 CEO) at 5/30/2007 12:36:19 PM
If you need some follow-up work for that art book.. :D

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 5/30/2007 10:39:45 AM

well yeah, that's the point actually - I try to combine pixel art and traditional 20th century pop art. not quite sure if it works but judging from the comments it does :D

and I'll let you in on a secret, some of my pixel stuff will get actual art gallery exposure this year. test canvas prints look good ;)

and hey!! that was a Hippo! and it didn't suck.... did it? wtf cmon I just wanted to create a fun character. :(

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 5/30/2007 10:36:33 AM
thanks man, I'm glad it didn't turn out that bad :D

jalonso (Level 11 Godfather) at 5/30/2007 10:33:28 AM
Well, some Austrian and French Pop artists of the sixties had a similar aesthetic when Pop Art was new (once they come to mind I'll fill you in, could have been a Belgian school of thought too...hmmm). In pixels however its all YOU :D

There is plenty of simplistic pixels here in the gallery that isolated have a simliar sensibility. Macula's pixels come to mind (deceptively simple yet thought provoking, his site is a blast, check it out). You however, compile different elements to create an abstract narrative which is high-art in nature. Both because the viewer is forced to interpret and equally solve for him/herself, a true mark of high art (making sense of chaos). This I first noticed on your CYMK pixel. That example, like this one, can well be interpreted into big canvases placed in a gallery and pixel art or not the evocation is intelligent...I hope I don't sound  but art education/history is a study of mine and all things get equally filtered through my snotty side. You all to often surpass any expectation and thus are a fave of mine*

*cept for that mess of a crocodile you recently puked up

I just love this fresh new design !

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 5/30/2007 9:51:40 AM

thanks jal!

I like to think tho that nobody did this before, but really have you seen something like this before? I wonder if I'm just inventing a bicycle, or is it really the first coloring job like this in pixels? (my ego must be tripping so badly lol)

people please post links to similar pieces if you find them I'm just curious.

Mykola (Level 2 Flatfoot) at 5/30/2007 9:48:52 AM

Skull (Level 11 CEO) at 5/30/2007 3:13:30 AM
