the sprite is just confined in a small area, in reality, he will jump further.
also, keep in mind, he is jumping like a bitch... not a normal jump. edits will come later

I would say frames 3, 4, and 5 have some transition issues... adding frames between 3 and 4 and between 4 and 5 might help.
4's arms move back a little too sudden, in comparison with his legs. Perhaps a motion blur for his arms could work if you don't want to add another frame.
5 is pretty awkward to look at... the arm movement isn't as drastic from 4 to 5 as it is in 3 to 4, but a tiny motion blur could look good there. It's possible it's just the shading is so different in that frame compared to frame 6. (4 not so much, since you did some different shading to transition...)
I do understand that jumping is a fast motion and all, and I think you're going for the squish squash principal with the frames I mentioned, but it's kind of awkward to look at as it is.
Ya know, it's still fine as is, so it's possible he should just need to jump further and higher. :P

you shouldn't have both his feet leave the ground at the same time, one should leave the ground first and the same foot should probably hit the ground before the other one too when he lands

I dont think this is as good as your walking and running in terms of smoothness. The arms look to me like they jolt back to fast.
I like it though!
