Jalonso, no, your comments are really helpful. The main reason I'm posting stuff here is to get better, and I'm thankful for your time.

About the light source, yeah, I generally stick with left/ top left lighting. You're right about the fuselage. And I'll try some colour variations.

I can't tell where the light source is coming from. The front hull seems to have a top left source but the fusillage where it meets the hull is top right. Wings and fans may be top left/right.
The previous green version looked horrid because the shades of green were ugly and not very 'spaceshippy'. These grays while adequate are on the boring side of metal gray, a slight blueish, greenish, rusted cast maybe?
Do I rag on your isos too much? You're good and I only mean to help you make your stuff the best it can possibly be.
