Also, Imagician, in the story he is never "bright", he goes from passive to driven, and his brawn is simply a factor of his need to use the huge sword, he is never meant to be likable, it is a story of revenge and betrayal.
It definitely has some Biblical tones to it, as he is a shepherd that goes on to save humanity by sacrificing himself to destroy a talking goat monster, but that was not how the story started. I just wanted to have a barbarian that fought mutant animals, and this is how it evolved.
Also, to clarify, Manlord is not affected by the meteor, only the monsters, his brawn is earned.

Manlord is actually Oxford educated, with a PhD in quantum physics, and he wrote quite a superb article on superstring theory. On his weekends he uses his massive brawn to help construct a superconducting super collider in his native land.

Apart from the story stuff you gave, which I don't like but won't discuss here in detail (e.g. the humble protagonist is transformed into some low-brow, featherbrained all brawn guy, which makes him kind of less sympathetic), you could tweak the sword of the big guy a little: if the reflexes stay in place when the sword is moved, it would look more like real metal reflections ("environment mapping" if you like

Great. Most over-the-top powerup I've ever seen. I mean that in a good way. It's like Altered Beast, but better.

hehe nice, this concept reminds me some bible hero that started as a shepherd... (Moses or David for example)
this is a nice work, yet in the monstersized vesion of it, the bold lines of the miscles just messes things up and dont looks so fine. all other things are just fine.
