This is the main walk cycle for a character from an original game I'm doing the sprites for. Critique away.

Kapptin: It's a She, though it's a bit tough to tell (How is she gonna be hardened? Look at those big, three-pixel eyes!). As for the arm thing, there actually is an arm gait, it's just really subtle. Grand total of two pixels motion. Which translates to about 1/2 of her body width. I admit, it's a bit tough to tell, but it's not a run cycle, it's a jaunty walk. Runs in the game system (at the moment) are going to be limited to short-range dashes.

BTW Daniel, the frame rate in-game is going to be a lot higher. And there's no cloak- that's a scabbard. Again, tough to tell without seeing the character's resting pose. Which I don't quite have together at the moment.

The leg and hair motion in this is great, however, your character has no arm gait.  It's reminding me of the episode Seinfeld where Elaine is driven crazy by a woman who doesn't swing her arms when she moves :p

@Metaru: I personally find it easier to evaluate whether walk cycles work or not if I do make them move, rather than walk on the spot. Making them move, like you've got here, shows what they're going to look like in-game.

@Watercloset: The bouncy hair looks good. The cloak seems a bit stiff by comparison, though. Maybe give it a bit of bounce, like the hair?

Personally I think he looks a tad jaunty for the hardened, monster-fighting warrior I imagine he's intended to be. His eyes look happy, he keeps his back very straight and he has a certain spring in his step.

I've got that one as well, it still has the background like the sword attacks. I'm getting around to it.

next time, don't make it "walk". better make it move in the same place. just a small advice.

Thanks to Manning Krull for the tutorial that allowed this to come together. ()
