Interesting piece. I don't exactly dig the shading (or rather especially the lighting) on the trees with the round tops. Moreover, the light source there is inconsistent. Non-handmade font (even with automatic antialiasing) is a no-no in pixel art (sorry if I guessed wrong). Text in left bubble is also not centered (too much space on the left).
Anyway, i like it for the subject .
Maybe the walls are a bit too large for being one-colored (looks a bit boring). However, fancy texturing wouldn't fit the geometrical clean style anyway. Maybe you should go a little smaller next time, but with more objects, if you want the large scale, though.
I really like the houses, I think they're pretty much self sufficient.. in fact I'd kep them as they are with no extra gimmicks.. the trees could use some work though, as jal described :)
I think this is great. I would delete the white BG because it serves no purpose and actually takes away from the scene. One small detail that is wrong is the shadowing on the trunk of the pointy trees. Those same trees also use 3:1 lines on the greean layers where 2:1 would be better. On the round trees you flipped them (mirrored) but did not change the highlights to be universally lit, fix that.
