So I'm finally done editing my fadatar. It's come a long way and I'm VERY happy with it now. EDIT: LOL I edited it again :P Thanks to Lar for all the one on one crits. :) EDIT 2: Whew. Hopefully this is the final edits. Thanks to Lar and Lawrence for the crits!! :D

Thanks so much for your edits. :) I learned some valuable lessons from it and some things I wouldn't have even thought of (blue on the jawline.. :O) I hope you like the progress I've made from it. :) I wanted to make it look a little more like me than yours did (I've got a bigger nose than I've let you guys think XD). Here's the edit I made of just the face. I applied a few bits of aa and made the dithering a bit smoother. Instead of there being light and dark dithering in the same space (forehead/under the eye) you should decide which should exclusively take that space, otherwise they theoretically cancel each other out whilst creating a plaid effect.

I like this a lot more than the previous incarnations of your avvie, and as you said it has improved vastly, but I think it would look much better if the dither was toned down in the areas where it's coveding large surfaces. The forehead and the area under the right (your left) eye are the main problem areas I see, though. Take a few pixels of dither off of those and I think you should have a flawless fadatar here.

I'm not a girly girl. I don't "look" girly. I have feminine and masculine traits. I thought your jaw looked more masculine than mine did, honestly. I mean, you made it more angular than round.

I'm a white chick, but I've been told I don't look it so... I don't really think I need to be obviously ethnic or not or what that has to do with the shading of the skin, really. I also have very pale skin since I avoid the sun. So that's why my skin is so light. The darkest shade you picked, I feel is too dark.

I dunno, your edit seems way worse than my avatar in terms of shading, dithering or not. And it seems more masculine than mine too. And you said that my darkest tone was greenish... but I feel it's more blue. ... Is your monitor set right?

I didn't use a particular ref for this, but here's a picture of my face.

*dont kill me, because when i type this out, i mean no offence, and am just trying to explain the process i went through.*

honestly, i opened up paint, pasted your avvy into it, and then i realised i didnt even know if you were a guy or a girl. i studied the avvy for a minuite. its got a masculine jawline (main thing that confused me), female lips and hair, and eyes that dont really give much away. after that, i actually went and checked your profile to make sure you were a girl XD [the other avvy with the orange background also helped]

ok. at this point im ready to start pixeling. but wait:

i cant tell what your ethnicity is because of the grayed out skintones XD. so i took a guess, and decided that you were white >.>

onto the actual critique:

i changed teh skin tones slightly so that they didnt look quite so bland. skin tones usually are saturated and full of life, but i figured you might have done that on purpose, so i left em at a relitivly low saturation.

you had a color that was almost exactly the same as the third lightest skin tone, possibly left from a messed up palette swap. i deleted that tone altogether, and replaced it with a purple whice i used for AA on the hair.

i changed the darkest skin tone. it was kinda a random looking green, so i replaced it with something not quite as dark, and that could also double as a dark skintone.

removed most of the dither, and changed up the highlights on the cheeks, and added some AA on the hair, with that dark purple i added earlier.

lastlym i changed the background colors, to something that was low saturation, to match the low saturation skin tones. it was kinda bugging me because generally, you use high-sat colors in the forground to make it 'pop', and low saturation colors in the background, to make it blend, but you seem to have the opposite.

oh, and added some cheep dither in the background to make it look not as 'pmg bandwagon fadatar!' (lol)

I personally think that there's to much dither.. but the rest is beautiful!
